David Jay Steiner, EdD is a Melamdim Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. Before Hartman, David was the Director of Education at Congregation Solel in Highland Park, Illinois.
David completed his doctoral studies at National Louis University and wrote a dissertation about peace education for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He is a father of three; Maya (15), Sahar (12) and Itamar (10), and husband of Irit.
David Grew up in Chicago, moved to Israel to learn agriculture when he was 15, finished high school and served in the IDF.
He holds a BA from UCLA in fine arts. He concurrently studied film and has written 10 screenplays; 4 as a student, 4 in Hebrew, a childrens musical and a Holocaust drama. His latest script is still now it its fourth revision in Hebrew. It’s inspired by the Talmudic story of the four who entered the grove.
He has a master’s degree in Arts, Entertainment and Media Management and has produced video and multimedia since graduating UCLA.
