Please check out my blogs; The Radish and The White Spaces.

The Radish: On the Beet with David Steiner is my personal blog.

I have been writing there for two years. I write a lot about my experiences in Israel and my responses to current events, especially when they seem to pose an affront to human dignity and common decency.

One Day I will be a rabbi and my acronym will be Rabbi (Reish) David (Dalet) Steiner (Shin),רד’’ש

The White Spaces

Rabbi Israel ben Eliezer רבי ישראל בן אליעזר (Born: August 27, 1698 (18 Elul) Died: May 22, 1760), was known as the Baal Shem Tov or Besht, and was a Jewish mystical rabbi. He is considered to be the founder of Hasidic Judaism He used to say that he reads the white spaces between the letters on the page. He also said, “Every single thing one sees or hears is an instruction for his conduct in the service of God. This is the idea of spiritual service – to comprehend and discern in all things a way in which to serve God.” While I am not as certain as the Baal Shem Tov in the existence of God, I want to train myself to comprehend and discern in all things a way in which to serve humanity, my species.
